Description

Introduction

Throughout the history of Myopain Seminars, we have continually striven to offer the best possible continuing education courses for US physical therapists and other healthcare providers, especially those that complement our core dry needling classes. As part of that mission, we have brought in several instructors from Europe, including  Dr. Harry von Piekartz from the Netherlands, Gerard Greene from the UK, and Dr. Matteo Castaldo from Italy, among others.

We are thrilled to add Marc Schmitz, Founder & CEO of SonoSkills, also from the Netherlands, to our distinguished panel of instructors and teachers. In 2010, Marc founded SonoSkills, which has since become the premier provider of diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound courses to advance your career. SonoSkills has delivered courses in over 30 countries and includes a team of more than 40 expert trainers.

Myopain Seminars is honored to offer the foundational MSK Ultrasound Bootcamp courses to clinicians in the United States in association with SonoSkills!

The foundational MSK Ultrasound Bootcamp consists of two courses: the Upper Extremity course and the Lower Extremity course, which can be taken in any order!

Why should you attend our blended Bootcamp courses?

The use of musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US) has grown rapidly in primary healthcare—particularly among physical therapists and chiropractors. The reasons are clear:

  • Enhanced clinical reasoning and diagnostics:  MSK-US strengthens your decision-making, elevates your professional quality, and improves the standard of care you deliver, ultimately benefiting your patients.
  • Future-ready practice: As more tasks shift to primary healthcare, MSK ultrasound equips you to meet these evolving demands. Healthcare must become faster and more cost-effective—and MSK-US supports that shift.
  • A powerful addition to your toolkit: You are already a musculoskeletal expert. Adding MSK ultrasound to your skill set makes it more complete, enabling more accurate assessments and better-informed treatment plans.

MSK-US allows you to visualize muscles, tendons, ligaments, and, in some cases, nerves and blood vessels to evaluate their structure and function. Research consistently shows that many clinical tests lack the specificity needed for accurate diagnosis. False positives are common—MSK ultrasound helps minimize these errors, leading to more precise and patient-centered care.

Advanced diagnostic MSK ultrasound of extremity joints is highly relevant to all MSK professionals, providing a valuable tool for accurate medical and physical therapy diagnosis, intervention, and follow-up. This can significantly improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Our expert faculty will guide you through (sono)anatomy, demos, and (sono)pathology with much hands-on time during the workshop.

Learning MSK ultrasound can enhance professionals' knowledge and skills, support their professional development, expand their career opportunities, and benefit their clinics and practices. Moreover, attending an MSK ultrasound course can be a transformative experience, fundamentally changing how professionals view anatomy and pathology!

After completing this premium quality blended learning course, you will be a master of MSK ultrasound on a foundational level, ready to take on any challenge in your clinical practice!

Course Format

The MSK Ultrasound Bootcamp UE course is offered as a hybrid or blended course, combining online and onsite learning. Blended learning adds an exciting element to classroom teaching that supports mastering newly learned skills. The course incorporates many of the best aspects of face-to-face teaching (personalized learning and social interaction), while allowing greater variety and flexibility than a traditional classroom setup.

The online section will take approximately 11 hours to complete.

Between the two courses, you will review over 190 professionally recorded videos totaling 20 hours of on-demand content valued at US$700, available to you before, during, and for six months after the course.

During the hands-on part of the course, we feature one ultrasound system per three students.

The live Intramuscular Electrical Stimulation (IMES) course is a practical, hands-on course designed for clinicians who already completed the online IMES course. During the course, students will review and practice recommended treatment approaches using IMES for patients with neck, back, arm (epicondylalgia), hand, low back, pelvic, hip, and leg pain and dysfunction, and for muscle strengthening and motor recovery.

More Information

Intramuscular electrical stimulation (IMES) is increasingly used in clinical practice to modify or enhance the effects of needling interventions. Yet, no published guidelines exist to assist clinicians in their clinical reasoning for selecting stimulation parameters or determining adequate dosage for the use of IMES for any musculoskeletal condition. This online course will teach clinicians how to safely and effectively implement IMES into practice based on the most recent scientific evidence.
