Trigger Point Acupuncture / Dry Needling 2

Second of three courses required to receive certification with Myopain Seminars in Trigger Point Acupuncture / Dry Needling.

Description

The Trigger Point Acupuncture/Dry Needling 2 course builds on the knowledge and skills of the Trigger Point Acupuncture/Dry Needling I course and provides acupuncturists with an evidence-informed approach to the assessment and treatment of trigger points (TrPs), peripheral and central sensitization, and the etiology and scientific basis of myofascial pain and dry needling. This course aims to further bridge the gap between the differences and emphasize the similarities to broaden the practitioner’s scope of practice. Besides covering many muscles, students will also be introduced to the current scientific basis for DN for scar tissue, fascial adhesions, enthesopathies, and tendinopathies.

Many muscles commonly addressed in clinical practice are included, such as the posterior cervical muscles, the oblique capitis inferior, the cervical and thoracic and lumbar multifidi, levator scapula (partially), the scalenes, the latissimus dorsi, supraspinatus, pectoralis major, pectoralis minor, the coracobrachialis, pronator teres, wrist flexors, oblique abdominal muscles and rectus abdominus, the lumbar paraspinals, the deep hip rotators, the lower and middle trapezius, the serratus anterior, and the rhomboids muscles. Students will also be introduced to the current scientific basis for dry needling for scar tissue, fascial adhesions, enthesopathies, and tendinopathies.

Students will review the anatomy, function, and dry-needling techniques for each muscle. The Instructor-student ratio is at least 1:11.

Pre-Course videos are provided after registration. If you prefer to review the presentations in a live webinar, you can register for the DN-2 Webinar.

The Trigger Point Acupuncture/Dry Needling 2 course is the second course in a three-course series by Myopain Seminars to attain certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist - Dry Needling (CMTPT/DN). A minimum score of 70% on a multiple choice quiz plus demonstrated muscle competency are required to pass this course. Physical therapists licensed in Tennessee need to have a minimum score of 80%.

The live Intramuscular Electrical Stimulation (IMES) course is a practical, hands-on course designed for clinicians who already completed the online IMES course. During the course, students will review and practice recommended treatment approaches using IMES for patients with neck, back, arm (epicondylalgia), hand, low back, pelvic, hip, and leg pain and dysfunction, and for muscle strengthening and motor recovery.

More Information

Intramuscular electrical stimulation (IMES) is increasingly used in clinical practice to modify or enhance the effects of needling interventions. Yet, no published guidelines exist to assist clinicians in their clinical reasoning for selecting stimulation parameters or determining adequate dosage for the use of IMES for any musculoskeletal condition. This online course will teach clinicians how to safely and effectively implement IMES into practice based on the most recent scientific evidence.
